Femistra 1mg Tablet is unsafe to use during lactation. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby, or the mother is suffering from a condition in which breastfeeding is not advisable.
Femistra 1mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Femistra 1mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Femistra 1mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Limited information is available on the use of Femistra 1mg Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.

Uses of Femistra Tablet
Femistra 1mg Tablet is used in the treatment of breast cancerIt is used with other treatments, such as surgery or radiation, to treat breast cancer in women who have attained menopause.
How to use Femistra Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Femistra 1mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Femistra Tablet works
Femistra 1mg Tablet is an aromatase inhibitor. It works by lowering the amount of estrogen (natural female hormone) produced in the body. This can lower or stop the growth of some breast cancer cells that need estrogen to grow.
Common Headache, Hot flushes, Nausea, Skin rash, Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, Osteoporosis, Weakness.
Expert advice for Femistra Tablet
Your doctor has prescribed Femistra to treat breast cancer. Femistra lowers estrogen production in your body and reduces the growth of hormone-sensitive tumours. Femistra can be taken with food or on an empty stomach with a glass of water or juice. Nausea (upset stomach) and hot flashes (sudden sweating and feelings of warmth) may occur on starting treatment with Femistra but should go away with time. If nausea is bothersome, take it after meal. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible if it is within 12 hours of the missed dose. If it is more than 12 hours, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule.
Q. Is Femistra a steroid/hormone?
No. Femistra is a non-steroidal drug used in the treatment of breast cancer in post-menopausal women. It does not have a structure or effect similar to steroids. It is not a hormone
Q. Is Femistra a chemo drug/considered chemotherapy/chemotoxic?
Yes. Femistra is a non-steroidal chemo drug. It is used as a part of chemotherapy or with other chemotoxic agents in the treatment of early-stage or advanced breast cancer in post-menopausal women
Q. Is Femistra a controlled substance/illegal?
No. Femistra is not a controlled substance and does not have a potential for addiction and abuse. It is not an illegal drug
Q. Is anastrozole better than tamoxifen?
Anastrozole and tamoxifen are two different drugs with similar uses but different mechanism of action and so cannot be compared
Q. Is Femistra same as Arimidex?
Yes. Arimidex is a trade name for active drug Femistra
Q. Can I take anastrozole/arimidex with proviron/ glucosamine/ melatonin/ aspirin/ turmeric/ ibuprofen?
Anastrozole (trade name: arimidex) has no known serious interaction with mesterolone (trade name: proviron), glucosamine, melatonin, aspirin, turmeric or ibuprofen. Please inform your doctor about all the medication you are currently taking to avoid interactions that may reduce effectiveness of any treatment or aggravate side effects
Q. Does Femistra cause weight gain/hair loss/high blood pressure/arthritis/raise cholesterol/ joint pain?
Yes. Increase in body weight, hair loss, high blood pressure, inflammation of joints (arthritis), raised blood levels of cholesterol and joint pain are among the possible side effects of Femistra
Q. Does anastrozole increase testosterone?
No. Anastrozole has no known effect in raising testosterone levels
Q. Does Femistra help gyno?
Femistra has no known effect on breast enlargement in men. ‘Gyno’ is a slang word used commonly among body builders for gynecomastia (enlargement of breasts in men).
